A Lot Of Driving

Here are two more dispatches from Featured Tripper Jeff Zutant. He covered a lot ground in the first few days of his road trip.
Day one: After 768 miles, we ended up in Indiana. Not too shabby. The short-term goal is Colorado, and seeing some old friends (whose names I will withhold in case I relate incriminating pictures and/or stories, and decide not to tell them.)
Right now, we're in a campground we found along the way, drinking coffee and trying to repack the Jeep. It's not the most graceful thing you’ve ever seen and the looks we received from people passing us on the road were priceless. A cop actually took a picture of us as we were rolling along. We got many thumbs-up and well-wishes from everyone we met. It just goes to show that we really do live in a great land.
We suffered only a small crack in the windshield of the Jeep and are jettisoning some less-than-essential gear. We’ll try to drive close to the same amount today, but that depends if we get side-tracked by my main goal: Spend most of the time seeing things I can't drive to in a day. Mainly, the West.
I am thankful that I was able to talk my friend Jeremy into coming along with me on this journey. The company is something that I need. The time to ride along and just look out the window is something special. Jeremy also has, let's just say, a certain way of putting things that would make anyone crack-up. As for an issue that arouse while re-packing the Jeep, he came up with this gem. "Solutions, ya know. That's my thing."
We covered five states today: Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana. They all looked exactly how you imagined: The rolling hills of Kentucky, mountains of West Virginia and the miles of farmland in Indiana all lived up to their expectations. Now, on to the next day of adventure.
And the smile on my face keeps getting bigger…
