A Lot Of Driving

I'm writing this from the comfort of a Best Western outside Vail, Colorado where it's a balmy 54 degrees. And it's raining, which is why I am writing from a hotel room. We tried to camp, but as we drove further and further into the White Pines National Forrest (we went 8 miles, it took an hour) it started pouring.
As we drove to find a place to stay, freezing and muddy as all hell, a strange thing happened. I started smiling and realized that this was part of the whole trip. I could only think about how in a couple of years, Jeremy and I will look back on that miserable couple of hours and laugh.
That being said, let me recap: There has been a lot of driving over the past couple of days. There is something about driving across wide open fields and plains of rolling hills that's magical. A Jeep owner will know this. When driving in one for a while with the top off, you get a quiet hum in your head. When you stop, it's still there and will be for hours. Even though Jeremy and I are talking and the radio is blasting, you get a sense of having noise canceling headphones on. You can see everything going by and happening, but silently. While the rain made me wish I had my other car, there is no way I’d want anything else with me after 2000 miles.

Every time we stop for gas, (which is often in our old Jeep) we have people walk over to us and ask what we are doing or where we are from. I see a bit of jealousy in their eyes, but we get a lot of happy faces.
No revaluations on life, love, or career. Just snapping away and driving along. Now off to see some friends and enjoy Colorado for a day or two.
