By The Numbers

I've been home for a few weeks now and am still digesting a few things. I'll get to those later. For now, though, here is a breakdown of the trip.. by the numbers.

Total mileage: 8,217. Now that I look at that, it still blows my mind a little bit.

Days traveled: 39. Almost enough time to build an arc and collect all the animals two by two. (Except for unicorns, dragons, and Bigfoot…or bigfeet? What the hell is the plural of Bigfoot? Sorry to crush your dreams Jeremy.)

Unfounded Bigfoot sightings by Jeremy: 3.

Vehicles used: 3. The Jeep, Hank (The 1980 Toyota pick-up truck) and the Mazda 5.  We didn't name the Mazda, but lovingly called it the mini-mini-van. It could hold just about all of our stuff, which leads me to the next number..

Things left behind: 27. I made up this number. Who could possibly remember everything? Like the Jeep (still not over it.), 1 gas can, 1 lantern, 1 bike rack, 1 towel, brain cells by the millions, 1 pair of awesome flops, 1 bike lock, 1 deck of University of Maryland playing cards. And on and on and on. I think you get the idea of why I just picked a random number out of my ass.

Photos taken: 5285. 15GB. Jesus!

Time zones crossed: 8. I know some of you will try and do the math here, but there was some backtracking involved.

Times I woke up and forgot which state I was in, let alone which time zone: 4.

Times pulled over: 0. Thank God. I'll just leave it at that.

Times I needed to change my underwear because I thought I was being pulled over: 1. I'll just leave it at that.

Windshields used: 4.

Tanks of gas: 31.

Average MPG: 19.2.

Average cost per gallon: $2.79.

Number of receipts that I have to add up for tax purposes: 119.

Days without a job: 67.

States visited: 18.

New friends: Many.

New outlooks: 1.

Trips of my lifetime: 1.

More trips of my lifetime: Unknown, but I have a feeling there are more on the horizon.
