Cape May: Chillin'

Last week, my girlfriend Holly and I took a trip down to Cape May, NJ with her dad and stepmom. We had a few things on the agenda. Mostly, though, we wanted to get some R-and-R. We got heaps of it.
In the beginning, our plans ranged from whale-watching to biking around town to strolling on the boardwalk in Wildwood. We made it to Wildwood, but the only strolling we did was to and from the car.
Once our agenda was reduced to chillin' out, it was very easy to relax. I was so relaxed, I didn't have energy to do much else. The only thing I had to do was wake up, eat breakfast, then head down to the pool.

My view for most of the trip.
Lying by the pool at Congress Hall (a great hotel!), I engaged in the heavy-lifting activity of reading. That was usually followed by a nap. I began feeling guilty, though. I wasn't exploring the town (except to eat). I like to get to know the places I visit. I want get to know some of the history, drive or walk off the beaten path to see some places that others may not get to see. Maybe even go on an adventure. I like to take more away from a visit than knowledge of their pool.
I got over my guilt, though. The intense R-and-R paid off. I'm back in NYC feeling rested and refreshed. It'll be another few days of not getting enough sleep before my ass is dragging again.

As a child do you remember those long road trips, plane rides and feeling exhausted after the vacation. The idea was always to see beyond the pool to taken the unbeaten path and see something that no one else would have known about. Oh! And you had to be up by 5:00 am for breakfast because the bus left at 6:oo am. You could always sleep on the bus, train, plane, car only to be interrupted every few minutes to "look at that!" What great memories! Take a few days to rest after the trip.
