Key West: Sunset Dinner Cruise

This would be a Caribbean dinner starting with Conch Fritters and a choice of Havana Cocktail Sauce or Habanera Key Lime Mustard. I would learn quickly that, in addition to pie, there is key lime is in many things.

The salads were stacked precariously on the rocking deck. They would, in the end, fall victim to Poseidon's hand and came crashing down to the deck. The waters and the wind were both feeling fierce on this night. I'd find out the next day that many of the cruises scheduled for tonight canceled, but the brave Liberty Clipper.

For now, I simply enjoyed my Mojito Tropical Fruit Salad with Fresh Mint, Lime and Bacardi Rum and my Southernmost Caesar Salad with Pineapple, Plum Tomato, Grated Parmesan & Avocado Citrus Vinaigrette.

The main course was a double shot. There was Mojo & Sour Orange Slow Roasted Pork with Caramelized Bermuda Onion Relish as well as Jamaica Citrus Rubbed Whole Chicken, cut with Mango Curry Relish. On the side we chose from Costa Rican Red Beans and Rice or Rum Glazed Sweet Plantains. I went for the plantains.

Rounding it all out were Assorted Breads with Sweet Butter and Olive Tapenade. Not to mention the beer, wine and soda.

The cost of all this was $85 per person. This may seem steep at first but not when you consider that all of the sunset cruises which don't include food cost $55 plus. Dinner of this quality in this area will cost you close to $20 plus per person anyway. So combining the two seemed well worth the extra few dollars because what you get with it is priceless. Sunset on the water.

It was an early sunset thanks to a few nervy clouds, but beautiful nonetheless.
